Chenin Blanc

$28.00

2023 Chenin Blanc. Hand Picked. Basket Pressed. Barrel Fermented and matured in French oak.

Tasting Notes

The 2023 whites are so lifted and vibrant, this is no exception. The nose shows pear, citrus, tropicals and wet stone. The palate is awash with pear, passionfruit, lemon drops, honey and chamomile tea. Great acidity to keep it linear and focused on the finish. Yum!

Tasting Notes

2022

Lemon pith, melon, jasmine & honeysuckle on the nose. A mouth filling white; equal parts texture and racy acidity. Juicy lemon, star fruit, honeysuckle with nice minerality on the finish.

2021

Scents of citrus, jasmine and honeysuckle on the nose. A mouth filling white with equal parts texture and  purity. Lemon pith, honeydew melon, pear with faith ginger and spice dominate the palate. Beautifully poised and eminently drinkable.

2020

Lemon, passionfruit, jasmine & honeysuckle on the nose. A mouth filling white with equal parts texture and racy acidity. Lemon, honeysuckle, unripe pear and hints of ginger and spice dominate the palate.

2019

The nose shows tropical notes with melon, guava, and underlying citrus characters. The palate has lovely texture due to the barrel ferment with a creamy mouthfeel complimented by lemon, melon and slight herbal tones. All framed perfectly with focused acidity to finish. Great length of flavour.

2018

The nose shows tropical notes with melon, guava and underlying citrus characters with a classic banana lolly lift. The palate has lovely texture due to the barrel ferment with a creamy mouthfeel that leads to a dry lingering finish. With low alcohol, this is an excellent example of an early picked Chenin Blanc.

2017

The nose shows tropical notes with melon, guava, and underlying citrus characters. Palate is fresh, clean and vibrant. Textural mid palate flows through to finish with nashi pears, guava and lime. Excellent acidity. Perfect summer drinking, especially with seafood.

2016

A warm lead up to vintage with very little rainfall saw the Chenin Blanc picked a little earlier than usual, fresh vibrant and zippy example with lower alcohol than previous vintages (11.7%). Hints of Orange blossom, lemon zest and oyster shell on the nose, lovely palate weight and texture leads to a clean dry finish. Minerals and lemon curd dominate the palate.

2015

The Chenin cropped quite well this year and has produced a fresh, dry white with great citrus and stone fruit notes. 6 months on lees has developed its complexity with classic banana notes, followed by fresh tropical fruit and crisp acidity.

2014

With a low yield and early harvest, the 2014 Chenin Blanc is at its mouth-watering best, loaded with tropical fruits and fresh pear. Basket pressing the fruit and aging in new and seasoned French Oak for 5 months provides lovely balance and complexity. With excellent natural acidity, it displays a rich and focussed palate with a crisp, dry finish.

2012

This year the vines cropped even less than last year and ripened quite well. The addition of a new French oak barrel to the mix and 12 month in barrel before bottling has produced a richer, more complex style. It is typical, once again, of dry Vouvray character with tropical fruit and banana lolly backed up by a rich, textural mouthfeel. Excellent natural acidity makes for a clean, dry finish.
